THE KITCHEN

Whether it be out with friends or just in your own home, life always seems to revolve around the kitchen. Here at Estbek it is no different!

As you walk through the door into the bar area, you will see an open plan kitchen located on your left, with granite walls and highly polished copper pans, leading through to a galley styled canopy and large cooking range.

During each evening you will see Tim (co-owner) and the team carefully preparing dishes to order. Whether it be our speciality catch of the day seafood offerings or one of our moorland meat dishes, we're sure you will be impressed!

With the kitchen being open plan, our team are always on-hand to help discuss dishes with customers. We also loving to hear your thoughts and feedback! The team are more than willing to discuss any allergies or dietary requirements, but we would always recommend calling us prior to your visit to ensure we are able to accommodate these special requirements.

THE WINES

Here at Estbek, we pride ourselves on having what we hope you will agree is one of the most unique wine collections in the UK, specialising in Australian and New Zealand wines, with some imported solely for Estbek and many more that are extremely rare in the UK. With a combination of over 200 bins, our list covers a full plethora of styles, tastes and pockets alike. Maybe you would like to try one back-vintages from our friends at Pewsey Vale Vineyard or the 1998 McRae wood Shiraz from the Jim Barry winery, or perhaps one of the Jansz Vintages made by our good friend Natalie?

We truly believe in wines from somewhere and not just anywhere, the latter often being the case in restaurants up and down the country, even taking that further with many of the winemakers being good friends of Estbek - along the way helping ensure we have the very best that they showcase with regular wine dinners when they visit the UK.

One of the driving forces in Australian and New Zealand wines is the development of the regional styles. Everyone (rightly) thinks of France in terms of its regions. We would never say "I'll have a bottle of Pinot Noir" and then buy one from Bordeaux, it simply would not be right; you would go to Burgundy. So why do we all say "I'll have a bottle of Australian Shiraz" or "I don't like Australian Chardonnay..."?

France makes a raft of styles with the chardonnay grape to suit most palates and you would not buy a Syrah from Chablis region, it would be far too cold to reach any level of quality. So why don't we think of Australia and New Zealand in the same way? It's the question many producers and the Wine Australia industry body are trying to help answer. For our part, that's where our wine list steps in, showcasing the regions of Australia and New Zealand!

When dining at Estbek, if you would like any help in choosing a bottle of wine, please do speak to any member of the waiting on team who will be more than happy to advise you.
