Tim Lawrence Co-Owner
Tim's skill within the kitchen has been the driving force behind the achievement of an AA rosette award in October 2004. Continually re-developing the content and style of our menu based on the locality of Sandsend and our geographical link with the sea and moors. Tim's experience is derived from working as head Chef at Trenchers restaurant in Whitby with the original founder, Terry Foster.
David Cross Co-Owner
Initially trained as a food scientist, and having worked within the food industry developing food hygiene and safety standards for a number of years. David has now developed, with the help of our team, Estbek's ever improving standards which focus on attention to detail. Also having a keen interest in wines recently undertaking a Diploma examination in wines & spirits and, thus helping further expand our listings!
Having joined our team back in June 2012 Derrick has soon become a key member of staff, working alongside Tim preparing ingredients and cooking each evening – his speciality being our Shiraz glazed steak!
The longest serving member of our team, working at Estbek for over 9 years. Working closely with Tim, James has helped steer Estbek and our menu gaining accolades and awards. James is a key member of the team, and well liked by all who work with him, working a variety of nights during the week.
Having started working at Estbek in March 2010 Gill looks after our accommodation and mountains of ironing - also being James' mum, so often tells the chefs off if they spill a sauce!
Having joined our team back in September 2009 and having already worked as a waitress for a number of years Jeanette brought a wealth of experience to our team, culminating in being promoted to Head-Waitress in 2011 and now responsible with David for team training and maintain our service standards, being a popular waitress with customers and staff alike.
Sophie joined the team back March 2004, what a find! Being a key member of staff, lovely to work with and always popular with our customers. Sophie also works with Jeanette to train our newer members of staff, ensuring our team is always developing.
ADAM Trainee-Waiter / Kitchen Assistant
Joining us in August 2012 Adam is now being trained by David and Jeanette in the role of carry-out, ever keen to learn and always having a warm friendly smile and also working with Tim, Derrick and James in the kitchen helping keep the mountain of pots to be washed in-check.
JAKE Trainee Waiter / Kitchen Assistant
Joining us in March 2012 Jake works not only as an trainee waiter but also works in our Kitchen, being particularly adept at preparing desserts!
GEORGINA Trainee Waitress / Weekend Housekeeper
Having worked for us since 2010 Georgina started as trainee housekeeper and has since progressed to be our main weekend housekeeper and helping train newer members of our team, with her ironing being legendary – and table cloths always just so! Now also taking up a position as trainee-waitress but watch this space ‘trainee’ won’t stay there for long.
